Jackson,  Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson District Library’s Henrietta Branch in Pleasant Lake will temporarily close for renovations starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 2nd.

The $225,000 project includes a full interior makeover with new flooring, lighting, furniture, shelving, and paint. The work is being done by R.W. Mercer Company, based in Jackson.

The Henrietta branch first opened in 1982 and hasn’t had major interior updates since a 2000 expansion. Last year, the building’s exterior received upgrades thanks in part to a $50,000 grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council.

Library officials say the renovations should wrap up by early 2026. The outdoor book drop will remain open during the closure.

JDL leadership says this is part of a long-term effort to modernize all 13 branches across Jackson County.
