In January the Jackson City Council approved two expensive plans to put before voters with the intention of repaving streets in Jackson.  Surprisingly, neither plan will be included on the November ballot.  The City failed to meet the deadline to add the language to the ballot.  WKHM asked Jackson Mayor Derek Dobies what happened.  He’s blaming a mix-up caused by the departure of city attorney Bethany Smith…

Dobies told WKHM “people make mistakes”.  This mistake is clearly a big one.  Governor Gretchen Whitmer was in Jackson last week and made it clear there will be no help on streets from the State in the near future…

Trying to put the street plans on the ballot in the spring has it’s own challenges…

City Council meets Tuesday 9/3 and plans to discuss the future of the these plans.
