Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Petty Officer 1st Class Morgan Jacobs from Jackson was recently named Senior Sailor of the Quarter for Naval Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC) Detachment Naval Expeditionary Medicine Command Atlantic.

Jacobs says that she found the skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy in Jackson.

“Growing up, I faced a number of challenges that required me to develop a high degree of resiliency and resourcefulness,” Jacobs said. “I learned early on the importance of goal setting and found creative ways to achieve them, even when they seemed out of reach.”

Jacobs graduated from East Jackson High School in 2012 before earning an associate degree in health sciences from American Military University in 2020, a bachelor’s degree in Care, Health and Society from the University of Arizona in 2024, and she is now working toward a master’s degree in health administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport.

Jacobs currently serves as a hospital corpsman, and expresses that she is able to take great pride in her military service and the accomplishments she has had in the Navy.

“Serving in the Navy allows me to be a part of something larger than myself,” Jacobs said. “I’m surrounded by people from all walks of life, people united by a shared purpose. I’ve been exposed to many cultures, and I’ve seen places I never thought possible. It’s a privilege to work alongside such talented and dedicated individuals, to learn from the best and to be challenged by a unique range of billets.”

“One of my proudest accomplishments in the Navy was being among the first women to fully integrate into a ground combat unit,” Jacobs stated. “It was a challenging and rewarding experience that taught me a great deal about adaptability, teamwork and fortitude.”

Jacobs also gave a nod to those who have supported her along the way and continue to do so now.

“I want to thank my family and friends for their love and support over the past 13 years.”
