Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Jackson County voters have just one item on the ballot for the August 5 primary, and it’s in the City of Jackson’s 3rd Ward. Voters there will decide which two of three candidates will advance to the November election for a five-year seat on City Council.
The race includes incumbent Angelita V. Gunn, who’s finishing her first term. She works with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and says she’s focused on infrastructure improvements and reducing the burden of street assessments for those on fixed incomes.
Challenger Jeromy Alexander is a former councilmember and county commissioner. He says his experience and recovery from a serious skydiving accident have strengthened his commitment to fiscal responsibility and city leadership.
Caleb Blondke, a longtime Ward 3 resident and manufacturing worker, is studying to become a teacher. He’s focused on road repairs, water service expansion, and growing the city’s tax base.
This is Jackson’s final odd-year election. City elections move to even years starting in 2026.
