Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A couple of Jackson area organizations have recently received grant funding from Michigan. State Representative Kathy Schmaltz recently discussed the funds that were received by JAMA as well as the College and Career Access Center.
Rep. Schmaltz has also testified alongside County Parks Director Kyle Lewis in hopes of securing $1.5 million for the Cascades.
The State House voted on legislation that would ban cell phone usage in school during class, with the measure ultimately failing to pass. Rep. Schmaltz says lawmakers need to try to do something to help with Michigan’s national education rankings, and is confident this issue will come around again.
