Hillsdale, Mich. (WKHM) — An 18-year-old man was killed in a crash last night in Hillsdale County.

Michigan State Police say it happened around 7 p.m. near Genesee and Bunn Roads in Jonesville. A 16-year-old driver from Litchfield lost control of the pickup truck while rounding a curve. The vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree stump, throwing one passenger from the truck.

Troopers say no one inside was wearing a seat belt. The 18-year-old passenger from Jonesville later died at Hillsdale Hospital. The driver and another 16-year-old passenger from Homer had minor injuries and declined treatment.

Police say alcohol and drugs are not suspected, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jackson Post at 517-780-4580.
