Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Jackson Public Schools (JPS) has appointed Julie Baker as the district’s new Deputy Superintendent. Ms. Baker graduated from Jackson High School in 1987, and has been involved with JPS for 29 years in numerous roles, most recently as Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Michigan State University, a Teacher Certification from Eastern Michigan University, a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Spring Arbor University, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University.
“I am honored to serve in this new role and continue the work I love: supporting our students, teachers, and families across the district. As a JPS graduate, educator, and parent, I believe deeply in the potential of our schools and our community. I look forward to advancing the district’s vision of academic excellence and student success,” said Ms. Baker.
The JPS Board of Education has filled its Board Treasurer vacancy. The former Treasurer, Marylin Acton, was chosen by the Board to fill the role of Vice President following the removal of Trustee Derek Dobies from the position. During the Board’s July 22 meeting, Subba Reddy was appointed to become the new Treasurer. Reddy was already on the Board as a Trustee.
