Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Jackson Public Schools held a community event at Loomis Park on Tuesday afternoon demonstrating the capabilities of their electronic school buses as a backup power supply. One bus powered a snow cone station at the event, and Highland Fleets technician Jeremy Lane explained to WKHM how the buses can supply power in situations where it is an urgent need.
Lane also spoke about the overall capabilities of the fleet that JPS has.
Superintendent Jeremy Patterson says that the partnership between Highland and the district has had a positive impact on JPS.
Patterson detailed a few of the advantages he believes the e-buses have as a backup power supply compared to a regular generator.
The event was attended by community members, JPS officials, and received a visit from State Representative Kathy Schmaltz.
