Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The City of Jackson is set to take over building inspection and plan review services for Leoni Township after a City Council vote approved the interagency agreement during their meeting on May 27. The measure passed with a vote of 6-1, with Ward 5 Councilmember Christy May Davis as the lone no vote.

Leoni Township Trustee Russ Jennings voiced his concerns over the City making this move during citizen comment, citing the increased workload he believes they are already taking on.

City Manager Jonathan Greene did not have any concern over the increased amount of work being undertaken, saying that the City’s building inspectors were more than capable of being able to “walk and chew gum” during the Council meeting.

The Leoni Township Board approved the agreement 5-1 during a meeting on May 13.
