The 1st Michigan Colored Regiment a book by Jackson area historian and author Maurice Imhoff is available through Arcadia Publishing. Imhoff said there were several Black Regiments that fought in the civil war but only one from Michigan.

The Civil War Muster is once again taking place at the Cascades Park on August 23 and 24th.
