Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — This past Monday (July 28) at approximately 8:14 p.m., an Officer with the Spring Arbor Township Police Department (SAPD) responded to the area of Slayton Road near Bunting Road for a single-vehicle accident involving a pickup truck that crashed into an occupied residence.

The driver, who was identified as 24-year-old Tyler Bristow by police, was traveling north on Bunting Road near the 90-degree turn. Authorities say Bristow failed to cleanly navigate the corner, left the roadway, and struck a residence.

Neighbors who were outside at the time of the crash ran to render aid to the sole occupant of the truck who was found behind the wheel.

Bristow initially tried to flee from the scene, but was stalled by the residents until authorities with SAPD and Michigan State Police arrived.

Bristow was described by police as “highly intoxicated” and was arrested for OWI (2nd offense) as well as several outstanding warrants.

No one was injured in the occupied residence. Bristow was arraigned on Tuesday (July 29) in 12th District Court on his outstanding charges.
