Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Jackson High School has a new varsity boys’ basketball coach. On Monday, the Athletic Department announced Phillip Thompson — better known as Coach Phil — will lead the Vikings this season.

Thompson brings experience from coaching top-tier AAU teams and previously served as an assistant at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor. Off the court, he’s led teams at NASA, Homeland Security, and even the White House.

He takes over for longtime coach and program leader Milton Barnes, who’s led the team since 2019.
