Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Disturbing new details have emerged after animal remains were found in a freezer behind the Parlour restaurant in Jackson.
Jackson County Animal Control is investigating the discovery, which included decapitated, skinned animals, a large exotic rodent, and store-packaged meat. Shelter officials say necropsies are being done to determine how the animals died and what species were involved.
The freezer was in a detached garage filled with old equipment left by a former operator. The restaurant’s new owner, Scott Pienta, says his team found the remains and reported them immediately.
Health officials say the freezer is not part of the current restaurant operation, and that Pienta is fully compliant with health codes. The investigation continues.
