JACKSON, MI – A new social club slated to open later this year will need to find a new home after a fire took out the roof.

Around 1:30 pm Thursday Afternoon, Blackman-Leoni Police, and Fire Departments responded to Leaf & Barrel Social Club located at 1606 West Ganson, near Brown Street for a structure fire of the building, formerly Divinity Design Studio. When first responders arrived, they would see heavy flames, and smoke coming through the roof. Three contracted employees were inside at the time of the fire but were notified of the danger when a passerby yelled inside the building to evacuate. All 3 employees exited safely, and were unharmed by the fire.

Authorities on the scene stated they had to change methods to extinguish the fire after the roof collapsed. It is believed a furnace in the northeast rear corner of the building might’ve played a role in the fire.

No injuries were reported. The Investigation remains open to find the cause of the blaze.
