Good news for persons trying to enter the work-field that maybe facing barriers in doing so, the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity has awarded over $14 million in grants that will help eliminate pitfalls found in returning to a workplace for some citizens. The funding is designed to help non-profits support employment and re-employment of at-risk individuals. Examples of such barriers include transportation, housing, childcare, clothing, training materials, work tools and equipment and legal services. in all 27 organizations across Michigan are receiving a one time grant.
