Leoni Township, Mich. (WKHM, Marc W. Daly) — The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety is investigating a double homicide in Leoni Township. Officers were dispatched Saturday afternoon to the 6900 block of Welch Lake Road, where they found a 57-year-old man dead in the driveway. A 70-year-old woman was later discovered deceased nearby. Police have not revealed how the victims died.

A vehicle belonging to one of the victims was reported missing and later located in the Village of Brooklyn. Columbia Township Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver, a 40-year-old man, fled before being detained. He is now in the Jackson County Jail awaiting charges.

Authorities say this appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.
