Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Rives Township is once again searching for a new clerk — its fourth in just two years.

Joseph Super resigned suddenly on May 22, just hours before a special meeting was set to discuss new responsibilities for the clerk’s office. Super, who won the position unopposed in the November 2024 election,  has not commented on his departure.

The township has seen a string of resignations. Before Super, Vercilla Hart briefly held the role twice. She was appointed in 2023 after Judith McCord stepped down — then later returned — during a tense board meeting.

Residents interested in applying must submit a resume by noon Wednesday, May 28, either at the township hall or by email. Candidates must be Rives Township residents.

The board will hold a special meeting Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Lansing Avenue Fire Barn to review applicants and potentially make a selection.
