Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — State Representative Kathy Schmaltz’s bill that would name a section of US-127 in honor of Second Lieutenant Roosevelt Stiger, one of the Tuskegee Airmen that was from Jackson, has passed the House of Representatives, and the legislation now moves on to the Michigan Senate. Representative Schmaltz clarified where that section is during her most recent appearance on A.M. Jackson.

Rep. Schmaltz also gave our audience a breakdown of what Jackson received from the Natural Resources Trust Fund to help with two recreation projects in the county.

Similar funding is also going to Chelsea, with a $1,012,500 grant going toward the construction of a new Main Street Park that includes a local match of around $463,000.

The Michigan House also passed legislation that would ban students born as males who identify as females from participating in girls sports. Rep. Schmaltz explained her support for said legislation.
