On April 30th, Captain Wayne Bisard and Captain Bob Vogt will be retiring from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office with 26 and 30 years of service. They served honorably and were dedicated to the citizens of Jackson County.

Captain Bob Vogt graduated from Lumen Christi High School in 1987. He began his career with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office on November 5, 1990 as a corrections deputy. After graduating from the corrections academy, he was assigned to the Wesley Street Jail.

As a corrections deputy, Captain Vogt ensured inmates were safe, secure, and treated fairly. In 2003, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In this role, he supervised and directed corrections deputies and was the manager for Community Corrections. In 2011, he was promoted to Lieutenant and became the Director of 911 Emergency Dispatch Center for Jackson County. In May 2013 he was promoted to Captain, becoming the Commander of the Corrections Division.

Captain Vogt’s dedication of the organization is highlighted by his volunteering for multiple internal and external committees, which helped improve the efficiency of organization: an example of which is the Corrections Leadership Program through the Michigan Sheriff’s Association, and the National Institute of Corrections Jail Administration Training.

Captain Vogt’s forward thinking, and acute attention to detail, landed him many accolades within the organization. His career highlights include:

  • 2001 Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Term Award
  • 2002 Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officer of the Year
  • 2008 Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Supervisor of the Year
  • 2010 Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Supervisor of the Year

Captain Vogt has a bachelor’s degree from Spring Arbor University and an associate degree from Lansing Community College.

 

Captain Wayne “Steve” Bisard graduated from Brighton High School in 1990. He joined the Marine Corps Reserves and served in the Marine Wing Service Support 472. Captain Bisard graduated from the Mid-Michigan Police Academy in 1994, obtained a bachelor’s degree from Siena Heights University, and a master’s degree from Central Michigan University.

In 1995, Captain Bisard joined the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy. He served in many leadership roles including: Field Training Officer; Firearms Instructor; and Less Lethal Instructor. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2001, where he worked as a Patrol Supervisor and a Detective Supervisor. In 2011, he was promoted to Lieutenant of the Patrol Division, and in 2013 he was promoted to Captain, the Division Commander of Patrol.

His career highlights include:

  • Six Department Commendations
  • Jackson County Major Crimes Task Force
  • Computer Crimes Unit
  • Police Staff and Command at Michigan State University

Sheriff Gary Schuette states, “I want to thank Captain Vogt and Captain Bisard for their service to the Jackson community. Their experience and dedication to duty will be missed. I wish them well in their retirement and future endeavors.”
