Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Thursday, June 12, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. one of Jackson’s long-standing traditions will be taking place: Uncle Phil’s Barbecue. This year the event is supporting Junior Achievement, Lumen Christi Catholic School, and the Michigan Theatre. “Uncle Phil” himself (Phil Willis) first fired up the grill 24 years ago, and this year the menu will feature chicken and coneys.
Dan Machnik of Willis and Machnik said it’s about giving back to the community.
The event takes place at Lumen Christi, 3483 Spring Arbor Road. For Phil Willis, it’s about bringing friends and family together.
Lunch at the barbecue is $20 per person this Thursday, 11:30 to 1. Steve Boyle will be broadcasting live on location on NewsTalk 970AM/101.5FM Thursday from 10 a.m. until Noon for a special edition of Talkback Jackson.
