
Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Authorities with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed that a fatal crash occurred this past Saturday (August 30) in Summit Township.
The single-vehicle crash happened at approximately 4:46 a.m. involving a Ford Escape traveling southbound on US-127 near Floyd Avenue. Police say the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver, a resident of Van Buren Township, was transported to Henry Ford Hospital with serious injuries. The passenger, identified as Trevor Allen Olson, a 35-year-old resident of Van Buren Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash led to a temporary closure of US-127 South near Floyd Avenue for several hours while first responders cleared the scene and investigators collected evidence. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Summit Township Fire Department, and Jackson County Ambulance responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining potential factors such as road conditions, vehicle speed, and driver fatigue.
