Jackson, Mich. — A winter storm watch has been issued for Jackson County and remains in effect from Thursday (12/22) afternoon through Saturday (12/24) evening. Snow will develop Thursday afternoon and evening, becoming heavy at times Thursday night. The temperature will also be falling from around freezing Thursday afternoon into the 20s Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), blizzard conditions are possible Friday with wind gusts up to 55 miles per hour causing significant blowing and drifting snow. Storm total snowfall predictions vary, but could be in excess of a foot in some areas.

Holiday travel could be very difficult to impossible Thursday evening and especially Friday. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The NWS also says that strong winds could cause tree damage leading to power outages. Subzero windchills are expected Friday evening into Saturday.
