Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The City of Jackson Council has approved the sale of another building to development group Collier Gibson, who purchased the Hayes Hotel from the City earlier this year. The property in question is the former Jackson Business Development Center incubator space at 414 N. Jackson Street, and the building was approved to be sold for $220,800. Those funds must be counted as Community Development Block Grant funds, with City Manager Jonathan Greene explaining how that money can be spent.

A public hearing was also conducted on the City’s proposed budget for their 2025/26 fiscal year, which begins on July 1st. City officials say that the budget includes a 30 percent fund balance and a tax reduction of 0.7 mills. The proposed budget is available to view on the City’s website, or you can click here.

City Council also approved an East Side Commerce Corridor Engineering contract to company Hubble, Roth & Clark, Inc. City Manager Greene told WKHM what the City envisions the final result of the east side construction to be.

The next City of Jackson Council meeting is scheduled for May 27 at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor of City Hall.
