From the Michigan State Lottery:

LANSING, Mich., April 15, 2024 – A Jackson man got a message he had never seen before when scanning his Powerball ticket, which led to him find out he was the winner of a $150,000 Powerball prize!

Brian Ellsworth, 65, matched four white balls and the Powerball – 11-38-41-62-65, PB: 15 – in the April 3 drawing to win a $50,000 prize. Thanks to the Power Play, the prize was multiplied to $150,000. He bought his winning ticket at the Save Time store, located at 2045 East South Street in Jackson.

“I got out of work early, so I stopped at the store on my way home and purchased a few Powerball tickets for the drawing that night,” said Ellsworth. “When I took the tickets to the store a few days later to check them, one of them came up with a message to file a claim at the Lottery office. I had never seen that message before, so I wasn’t sure what it meant. I scanned it a few more times and then finally asked the clerk what was going on. She scanned the ticket and told me I was a big winner!”

Ellsworth visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to purchase a travel trailer, complete some home repairs, and then save the remainder.

“It has been the longest week of my life holding onto this ticket, so I feel giddy to be at the Lottery office claiming my prize! Winning is going to make life easier for me and my wife,” Ellsworth said.

Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Powerball ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $10 million in the nightly Double Play drawing.

The Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and may be watched live online at: http://www.powerball.com. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
