Jackson Mayor Derek Dobies joins us every Wednesday morning, and we had to ask him about the issue surrounding Nikki Joly.

Mayor Dobies said, “Nikki, like the rest of the community, has done a lot of great work. But, the charges against him are very serious and I think it’s right to let due process play out before making any judgements about it.”

While Dobies was quick to reserve judgement until the facts play out, he was very proud of the community and how they’ve come.”No matter what the outcome, that the progress that we’ve made as a community, the steps that we’ve taken to show ourselves as a more tolerant and inclusive community aren’t predicated on any one person.” Dobies said.
