The Kiwanis Club of Jackson will hold a community build to install new equipment at Kiwanis Park on Jackson’s east side.

Kiwanis President Andy Johnson joined WKHM to talk about it. “The Kiwanis Club of Jackson is proud to install a brand new playground for the kids at Kiwanis Park on Elm and Blakely.” Johnson said.  “We were able to raise the funds through grants, both through our Kiwanis International and local community leaders, they helped us pull together around $50,000 to purchase and install a brand new playground.” The project will begin around 8am, with lunch provided by the club following the installation. He added it was time to update, to contribute to healthy kids. “Putting in a new park that’s designed with new toys that kids really like nowadays, that should help the kids in that community start out with a good healthy life style.”

Johnson said that the park is incredibly popular already. “According to Kelli Hoover, it is the most used park; they have reservations every weekend for birthday parties and events at the pavilion.”

The Kiwanis are inviting the community to volunteer to help install the new equipment.

Also in Kiwanis Club news, the club will hold their final Travel and Adventure film series after several decades of presentations. George Veach gave us the rundown of the film. “Our Travel Series is at Jackson High on Thursday evening at 7 o’clock in the auditorium. and we’re bringing in film producer Marlin Darrah, and he’s doing his film on Germany and Switzerland. This is a new film, and you’ll see a lot of Germany and Switzerland; but what’s not in the title is there’s also a good amount of scenery from Austria, including Salzberg.” Veach said.
