Roger Penske has purchased the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indy Racing League from the Hulman and George families. The sale was announced at a press conference on Monday. John Lefere was hired by Penske back in the 70s to run the Michigan International Speedway and spoke about those days recently on the WKHM Business Class Podcast, powered by the Sykes Group at Morgan Stanley. Lefere not only knows Penske very well, he was also close with the ownership group at Indy.

This deal should be big for the Indy Racing League, as they have virtually no footprint on the sports menu these days, other than Indy.
