Jackson, Mich. — Consumers Energy is now monitoring a new winter storm system, just as its crews are finishing up work to restore power to those who lost it during last week’s ice storm.

As lower Michigan gets hit with another round of freezing rain today, Consumers says that over 600 crews, contractors, and lineworkers from outside Michigan are in the home stretch of restoring power from last week’s storm and will be deployed to any newly affected areas if today’s freezing rain leads to outages.

According to the National Weather Service, the greatest amount of ice and snow accumulations will take place north of I-96. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-50s this Wednesday.
