A Michigan lawmaker has re-introduced legislation that would allow the Secretary of State to re-issue the blue license plates the state used from 1983 through 2007. The plan would also bring back the black plates issued between 1979 and 1983. Senator Mallory McMorrow of Royal Oak says for many Michiganders, those retro license plates bring back nostalgic memories about their childhoods and the cars they grew up with.

Under McMorrow’s legislation, the blue and black plates would be available to all drivers in Michigan for an added fee of $100. She says that the extra revenue would be used to fix a few more potholes on Michigan roads.
